El Guapo Stuntteam (bel)
In their native country Belgium, El Guapo Stuntteam participated in the 2004-edition of the emiment music competition 'Humo Rock Rally'. They qualified for finals with a jury-record that mentioned good critics on ‘wardrobe, gear and attitude’. They didn’t win the contest, but it was chrystal clear that this was only the first step to world fame for the rock&roll-piece from Hasselt, Belgium…. El Guapo Stuntteam started in their junior ages in 1995, building their track record in the innerworld of rock &roll, but it took until the Millennium for serious moves forward. In Holland they have been invited by their friends of Peter Pan Speedrock for the Revenge of the Rock&Roll Monsters Tour, late 2002. Their performance raised the attention of rock&roll label Suburban, but it took quite some time before they signed up in 2004. El Guapo Stuntteam was a bit reluctant to sign up immediately, as they wanted to be sure that Suburban was the perfect match for them. This way of working shows their critic, concious and persevere side, especially towards themselves: for instance, there are never 100% satisfied with their live- performances…. It’s hardly a surprise that Suburban had to postpone the streetdate of their album ‘Battles across the stereo spectrum’. The band took their time to finish all details with regard to mix, mastering and artwork, to be sure everything would be fine. The album shows a deep love for guitar music. The sound is heavy, with a lot of melody, dynamic and harmonic changes, ending up in a respectful revival of seventies rock. It’s being dominated by influences of British hardrock, enlarged with a groovy southern feel. The 3 guitar channels are tuned and arranged widely, never pushing and always supportive to the song.. Listen to opening (titel-) track ‘Battles across the stereo spectrum’, which has also been released as a preliminary single. The single has already been on rotation on the video channels, as they band has hired a famous movie-director to edit their video… There was no better introduction to the Dutch market than playing the opening spot at the Jack Daniel’s Rock Nights in March 2005, with 3 sold-out venues 013 Tilburg, Paard the Hague and Melkweg Amsterdam. Their performance persuaded all rock&roll critics, praising them as the the new Belgium sensation. In the final Connection Set, joining the stage with Peter Pan Speedrock and Danko Jones, they showed their great musical skills and craftmanship: for sure, El Guapo Stuntteam is a multi-talented band with great future opportunities….
