La Muerte
Belgium's La Muerte was highly influenced by Nick Cave and the Birthday Party, mixing noisy, swampy blues-rock and rockabilly with darkly gothic angst. La Muerte sang in both French and English; several of their records were released in the U.K. and/or U.S. La Muerte debuted in 1985 with the EP And the Mystery Goes On; their first full-length album, Every Soul By Sin Oppressed, appeared in 1987. 1989's Death Race 2000 was the group's first album to be released in the U.S.; it was followed by Experiment in Terror (1990) and Kustom Kar Kompetition (1991). After that they released a kind of "bests" live-album, recorded at their sold out fare-well gig in Brussels.
