Skitsoy

Somewhere in August 1997, Channel Zero, pride of Belgian metal music, split up. Artistic preferences of the band members had grown too much away from each other to enable further cooperation. At the peak of its career, and after selling 100.000 copies of their 4 albums the band splits, leaving a shockwave of disillusionment as a result. It takes front man and lead singer Franky De Smet Van Damme until September 2001 to search for the right musicians for his new project. A new band, a new kind of music, and a new start. March 23rd will mark the first show ever by Skitsoy. Yannick Uyttenhove on bass, Jef Aerden on drums and Stijn Norga on guitars complete the band's line-up. The name of the band is derived from a computer code. The first concert is sold out long before the first poster is printed. The reactions of the public is extremely positive. Franky describes the music as Energy Rock. It is powerful, heavy, loud, full of melody and most important full of energy. ENERGY ROCK After the release of the limited edition (and first single) "Brainf***ing" in April 2002, a lot of festival organisations wants to have Skitsoy on their bill. This leads to appearances on most major festivals, … with as a constant factor: the crowd going completely nuts. The band now has the image of one of Europe's best live bands. On of the highlights of the year 2003 was the Nandrin Festival, where Skitsoy shared the bill with ZZ Top and Deep Purple with the usual scene, the crowd going wild. Skitsoy has the profound honour to be chosen to open for big guns, Monster Magnet and 3 Doors Down. Twice the band conquered the audience and gained lots of respect. It's clear: SKITSOY ROCKS!! IT'S A LONG WAY TO THE TOP IF YOU WANNA ROCK 'N ROLL November 2003 marks the painful but valid decision to continue without guitar player Stijn Norga. Auditions immediately started in order to find a replacement and already in December, Skitsoy announced with pride Peter Fizgal is the new man on guitars. Having just met the band, Peter already had to stand a first test at a gig on December 27th.. The audience witnessed a great cohesion between the band members. Skitsoy responded to all the critics on stage with a blistering performance. The second single "Come to Belgium" was released by V2 records and got a lot of airplay on Studio Brussel, the Belgian alternative radio station. The videoclip of the song was broadcasted on most European music channels. Meanwhile the band has finishing the full album, recorded and mixed at the Wisseloord studio's in Holland and produced by Attie Bauw.
