Traktor

A Rockband without guitars is not as impossible as it seems, proves this Antwerp band that came out of the legendary 'Antifare La Familia'. With their unusual blend of instruments like Accordion, clarinet, saxes, charango, Euphonium(bombardon), double bass, saxes and drums they built a wall of sound where many 'rockbands' can be jealous about. Rolling Rock, Modern Folklore, Old Fashioned Techno, Crazy Jazz... every style they find exiting enough will be adapted to fit the Traktor stylee. Once they were a mobile brassband, now a strong stage-act with a lot of past gigs like: Dranouter indoor with John Cale, Jools Holland, Sam Brown a.o... Antwerpse Zomerfeesten, Circo Paradiso Festival, where they shared the bill with The Who Dads, Wawadadakwa, Monza etc..Brozella Jazz en Folk, Afro Latino, Kaapstad Brugge 2002, Paulusfeesten, Le Nuits Botanique, Nijdrop zomerhappening 2002 where also The Seatsniffers, Raf Coppens and even Will Tura were programmed, Gentse Feesten 2003 (see pics above) and many more. Also in the Theaterworld traktor gained popularity, for 'De Onderneeming' They made the score and acted in "Don Quichot", did gigs for theaterschool Maastricht (NL), St Lucas Antwerp, the festival 'Theater Aan Zee' in Ostend, the opening of the season for Kaaitheater in Brussels, Junge hunde festival in Monty Antwerp, Boulevard Festival s' Hertogenbosch (NL) Oerol Festival terschelling (NL) and worked together with Time Circus. Across the Belgian borders they already took some looks. In May 2002 they did a tour in Russia wich brought them on National TV. Also L'Aeronef and other cultural centers in France, many venues in Holland, such as: Paradiso Amsterdam, Aku Utrecht,Robodock Festival Rotterdam, Bar en Boos Leiden etc....got a visit from Traktor. And they appear with the song "Zieg Hohner" on a Swedish Compilation cd. The debut mcd 'Direction Planetaire' got airplay on Belgian National radio 1&2. The most recent full cd 'Monsterlada' was released on Haiku Records (the label of Wawadadakwa drummer Winok Seresia, see also Internationals) and was presented in a full Monty (Antwerp), got many reviews, radio airplay and interviews. But Traktor is still mainly a 'live' act that will enchant every audience between 7 and 77 years of age, with their energetic, but also melancholic shows. And the Traktor keeps on moving...
