Konstantin Gropper, brein achter Get Well Soon, maakt indiefolk met poëtische dieptes en grootse gevoelens. Kindamuzik over zijn eerste album Rest Now, Weary Head, You WIll (Get Well Soon) (2008): Bij beluistering van het album dringt zich direct al een groot aantal referenties op. De gezwollen orkestrale Balkanblazers van Beirut, de grootse arrangementen van Arcade Fire, de lo-fi folk en onvaste stem van de vroege Bright Eyes, soms zelfs een vleugje noise en vooral veel adolescente weltschmerz.Op tweede album Vexations (2010) laat Gropper zich inspireren door het verleden: de geest van Kurt Weill hangt rond, en Gropper liet zich inspireren door enkele titels van de Romeinse stoicijn Seneca (!): On The Shortness Of Life, On Tranquillity Of Mind en On The Happy Life. “They could be the albumʼs subtitles,” vindt hij. Toch is er geen overdosis artsy-fartsy: “Gropper kent zijn klassiekers, maar beheerst ook de kunst om aanstekelijke melodietjes te maken”.
