Gus Dapperton^(US)

Gus Dapperton is een opkomende indie songwriter uit Warwick NY. Hij is geïnspireerd door cinema en liefdesverdriet en omschrijft zijn muziek als “80s-influenced and kind of dreamy”.

Gus begon als producer voor zijn rapper-vrienden uit New York maar na het winnen van een songwriting wedstrijd op school was hij niet meer te stoppen. Hij schreef liedjes over hartzeer met invloeden van 60’s-rock-'n-roll en 80’s-new wave.

Op amper 20-jarige leeftijd en bracht hij onlangs de veelbelovende EP Yellow and Such uit. Pigeons & Planes omschrijft Yellow and Such als “sounds like a dream—a dazzling display of layered production, ambient segues, and lyrics that resonate. It’s a four-song exploration of falling in love for the first time, an experience that shaped the maturity of his sound and caliber of work.”

Gus is wat men noemt een echt wonderkind. Hij speelt alle instrumenten zelf in, neemt zelf zijn muziek op, zingt en mixt al zijn eigen materiaal. Daarbij maakt hij van zijn videoclips kunstige mini-films. De populaire video van ‘Just Snacking’ maakte hij samen met Matthew Dillon Cohen. "The song describes two lost souls. The protagonist believes they can save each other if they grow together. The other lost figure insists that their love cannot be because they are only a lone, wandering, and tragic case.” legt Gus uit in een interview.
