Horse Feathers presenteerde zonet de prachtige 3de cd Thistled Spring (Kill Rock Stars), een plaat zo gezellig en knus die als het ware gemaakt is om gezellig in de zetel te beluisteren. Op de wip tussen herfst en winter, zo klinkt ie: rijk gearrangeerd, knisperend en vooral mooi. Zanger Justin Ringle legt al ettelijke jaren de focus op akoestisch gebaseerde muziek en vindt in dit gezelschap de meest geschikte uitlaatklep hiervoor.It's grim stuff, to be sure, but those strings are gorgeous enough to sweep the song's entire generation of tragedy under the rug. - NPROn previous albums, melodies remained unshaped beyond anything but their own emotional cores, but there's real movement here, as the many parts that make up the arrangements push and pull with one another instead of simply congealing. - PitchforkBekijk hier Belly of June (Kill Rock Stars).
