Lone Catalysts (usa)
The Lone Catalysts consist of Ohio US dwellers MC J. Sands & Producer J. Rawls. The duo, who have been making music together since the mid-90's, have recently released their debut album entitled 'Hip Hop' on their self-started label B.U.K.A. With heads fiending for elusive knowledge on the crew, we decided to track the guys down and hit you with a little more underground mileage from one of 2001's most in demand teams. First up, here's a little foundation. It all started a little something like this. Their wax debut, The Beginning EP, released in August '98 is now rightfully regarded as an underground classic. Since then, Producer J.Rawls has gathered numerous production credits both Stateside and Worldwide, including the tracks "Brown Skin Lady" and "Yo, Yeah" from the highly successful 'Black Star' album by Mos Def & Talib Kweli. As a crew, they have featured on the acclaimed compilation "Hip Hop Independents Day Vol II" and released several classic 12" singles inc. "Due Process" feat. Talib Kweli & Rubix and the self-titled anthem "Lone Catalysts". Anyway, enough background. We'll let the cats talk for themselves now as they break down their DIY Hip Hop vibes...
