Mathlovsky(BE)
Mathlovsky is an all-round music performer, producer, drummer, guitarist, visual artist, vocalist and lyricist. Tired of genre restrictions, he carves out a stubborn path of creativity and self-expression. He's mainly known from the harder techno, hardcore & breakcore scènes but now he just finished a new full-length album 'GROTESQUE' with sparkling hip hop influences that will be released in March!
As a huge hiphop fan, he really got down to making some big 808 based hiphop tracks. He got in touch with the Mellow Minds family, inviting excellent vocalists like Amazumi (De Nieuwe Lichting 2017), Owen Perry Weston (Coely, Ndugu) & Kunde, really bringing the rap tracks to life alongside features of Gregory Simons & more.
The idea to combine other styles as rave, electro & hiphop music in one album came naturally for Mathlovsky, he's always been a fan of artists mashing up genres. His background lies in the hardcore and breakcore scene and his live-sets are always going from one subgenre to the next. The flow was there and it made the album into one big energetic soundtrack for the modern urban extravagant lifestyles.
Having released around dozens of hours of music (7 solo albums, countless EPs and a vast array of several bands and music projects), he showcases that he can go into any sound and put his own touch to it. Performing at warehouse raves, art exhibitions, band gigs and underground festivals across Belgium and Europe his live-set is one of a thousand styles mashed up at a pace that leave no feet standing still for the open minded.
Mathlovsky really got inspired by my hardware synths and the workflow that comes with it, twisting knobs and sliding faders while everything is recording live, it gives this energy that was needed for his 8th studio album. Re-inventing his sound by embracing old school sounds (like the Roland Alpha Juno 1 synth) with his vision on modern production techniques and overall dont-give-a-fuck attitude about subgenre clique mentality.
