Mc Verse (renegade Hardware, Uk)
MC Verse's career in Drum and Bass started in 1996. Based in Leeds, he secured his first residency (which ran for five years) at a night called DOPE (Development Of Progressive Energy). It was at one of these nights that Verse met Clayton from Trouble On Vinyl and since 1998 Verse has been working alongside the TOV & Renegade Hardware DJs and producers as a resident at Hardware nights across London, Europe and the World. He has performed throughout the UK (including the 1999 + 2000 Notting Hill Carnivals) and extensively throughout Europe, Japan, America and Canada. As well as holding residencies in the north of England at Event Horizon and Stush, Verse is active in London at The End (Renegade Hardware) and Club Colosseum (TOV). He has also worked at La Scala, Fabric, Bar Rumba and the Mass. Working for major labels in Drum and Bass like V-Recordings and Metalheadz has given Verse the opportunity to MC for every major DJ in the scene. Verse's musical influences come from the broad spectrums of music today, hip-hop through to acid jazz, funk, dub and reggae. In the studio he has worked mainly with L Double under the alias Northern Lights. 'What is the Maytrix' was released in 2000 on Flex Records. Since then Verse has been working mainly on vocal tracks, broadening into the emerging New School Breaks sound. He has also worked alongside Lazer and Urban Response with a release called 'Laser Beats' on TCR recordings. He has gained from and built upon the experience that comes with the work he has done. Verse's MCing style is original and unique. He has the ability to read and analyse a set, complementing the music without stressing it and working up the crowd whatever language they may speak.
