Nicole Willis & The Soul Investigators ^(US)

Sinds 2000 kreeg de Amerikaanse Nicole Willis naam dankzij haar R’n’B-albums Soul Makeover en Be It. Voordien was ze frontvrouw van de New Yorkse acid jazzgroep Repercussions, en werkte ze samen met o.a. Curtis Mayfield, Leftfield en The The. In 2005 begon ze aan een samenwerking met de Finse funk combo The Soul Investigators. Samen zorgden ze mee voor de heropleving van retro soul: het album Keep Reachin’ Up (2005) werd door Mojo Magazine ‘Urban Album Of The Year’ genoemd, 'Feeling Free' werd op Gilles Petersons Worldwide Winners Awards 'Track Of The Year' gekroond in 2006, en Obama gebruikte het titelnummer tijdens zijn recentste campagne. Een tweede, langverwacht album van Nicole Willis en The Soul Investigators volgde in januari: Tortured Soul (Timmion Records).
