Steak Number Eight

What’s in a name? As a tribute to his deceased brother, Brent Vanneste – at age 13 – decided to start his own band ‘Steak Number Eight’, referring to a songtitle of his brother’s metalband Voidpoint. Today, Steak Number Eight have just released their third album titled “KOSMOKOMA”. This postmetal powerhouse has been inflicting their unique brand of sonic terrorism since they released their debut EP “When The Candle Dies Out”, back in 2008.

In 2011 Steak Number Eight followed with their proper debut album “All Is Chaos”, ensuring the postrock / sludge metal teenagers left giant footprints across their native lowlands, and beyond. An album of such titanic magnitude it earned them comparisons to such alumni as ISISMastodonKilling JokeNeurosis and Tool.

Sophomore album “The Hutch” – released in 2013 – was the ultimate proof that Steak Number Eight were here to stay, convince and blow people’s minds, Combining devastating guitars and a hopeful sense of melody, the band took one step further towards creating their own unique sonic universe.

Meanwhile their reputation for their earth shattering live shows drew crowds in drove to witness the spectacle. Performances at Graspop Metal Meeting (BE), Pukkelpop(BE), Ghost Fest (UK), Paaspop (NL),Hellfest (FR),Wacken Open Air (GER), Tons of Rock (NOR) etc … saw the youngsters evolve into a well-oiled machine, capable of raising venues and festivals to the ground with the monolithic power of their music. Steak Number Eight broke free of the confines of their homeland and spread their wings further afield, hypnotising fans as they went whilst supporting the likes of DeftonesMastodon, The Dillinger Escape PlanProngAlice Cooper, and Marmozets.

KOSMOKOMA, scheduled for release in November 2015, is an eleven song behemoth that clocks in at just over an hour and seven minutes. For the mix of the album the band found a kindred spirit in triple Grammy-winning producer / engineer David Bottrill, known best for his work with Tool (Aenima & Lateralus), King Crimson (Thrak) and Muse (Origin of Symmetry).

Eros and Thanatos. Ying and Yang. Whatever you may call it : where hope meets desperation, where light meets darkness, where beauty meets ugliness is where we find our truest selves. Explore your subconscious and let yourself drown in the sounds of KOSMOKOMA. Destroy. And rebuild. Forever.
