The Apers
Punkrock'n'roll from Rotterdam, The Netherlands since 1996 The Apers started back in 1996 as a three piece in the suburbs of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Jerry Hormone was added as an extra guitar player in 2000. The Apers love the sounds of the Ramones, Queers, Undertones, Beach Boys, Buddy Holly and Screeching Weasel. Next to that Jerry digs the Dead Boys, Ivo loves this crazy Billy Childish, Marino goes loco with Thin Lizzy, and Kevin dances to Abba. The band has done more than 400 shows, rocking in countries like the Netherlands, USA, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, Italy, France, Spain, England and Scotland. They've played with bands like the Queers, Groovie Ghoulies, Hi-Fives, Chixdiggit, Travoltas, Retarded, Sonic Dolls, Spazzys, Jet Bumpers, Undeclinable, Darlington, Huntingtons, Hives, Teen Idols, Peter Pan Speedrock, J Church, Doctor Explosion, Backwood Creatures, Zatopeks, NRA, Spades, Bambix, Manges, Peawees, Popsters, Epoxies and more. Not only do the Apers kick ass in dark clubs and smelly bars, they've also rocked the crowd at big festivals like Lowlands, Metropolis, Noorderslag, A2A, Paaspop, the Popkomm and Eurosonic. After a shit load of releases like singles, split singles and EP.s, The Apers finally released their self-titled debut record (CD and LP!) in 2001 on Stardumb Records, Europe's #1 punkrock label. The record has been well-received by punkrockers all over the world and has got great reviews in magazines like OOR, Plastic Bomb, MRR, OX and Aardschok. The Apers made a video for the single .Eyes Open Wide. that made it to the video charts of The Box in Holland. The video is also downloadable on the website www.the-apers.com, which is updated weekly by Kevin Aper himself. In February 2003 The Apers released their 2nd full-length, "The Buzz Electric", on Stardumb Records again. The record has been well received by the international music press. To support the record the band has toured the USA for 6 weeks, playing 36 shows, coast to coast, in April/May 2003 with friends and label buddies the Groovie Ghoulies. Some of the clubs they played are CBGB.s (NYC, NY), Gilman St (Berkeley, CA), Fireside Bowl (Chicago, IL) and Emo.s (Austin, TX). Back in Europe, there was no time to rest. The band is already booked until December 2003, playing shows in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Swiss, Italy, Austria, Slovenia, England, Scotland and Ireland!
