Tijuna Mon Amour Broadcasting Inc. is the actual band of Chris Whitley's rhythm section, the DJ Studio 17, as well as multi-instrumentalist Matthias Petzold. A band from Germany. Four men in their own world. With melodies that have a strange visual power - sentimental sometimes, but never ornamental. Groove as a trance, nobody sings. To this band, their own images are like personal secrets from time immemorial, with a direct motion to reach out for new, unknown pictures and for memories. Great cinema? No screen, no heroes. The 16 sound tracks from the new album SONGS are songs, grown together just as a journey rich in quotations. The band's musical background has been reaching from free improvisation via drum´n`bass & jazz sessions and the hiphop club scene to singer-songwriter projects and noise-core bands provides the elements for a kind of music, which ignores boundaries of the respective genres but succumbs to their influence at the same time. Four musicians, telling about their various stopovers, but today defining themselves through Tijuana Mon Amour Broadcasting Inc. Music as the sound track of the script for their own neverending past. Some improvisation takes place, though the synthesizer remains the solid aspect. The music is loose, relaxed, very suitable for a lounge afternoon with an occasional sample (for instance of Alien). The atmosphere changes without noticing. A little bit romantic, jazzy at times and time-less, though somewhere from the past. Some modern dance beats go along with bells to change into the music belonging to black and white movies or bip hop.
